Accessing the application

General Information​

The Data Management Module is reserved for CMDBuild operators, who can use it to view and update cards, run workflow-based activities, generate reports, view dashboards and more. These features are available only if the CMDBuild instance has been correctly configured through the Administration Module.

Computer requirements​

CMDBuild is a web-based environment, so both modules are accessible through a standard web browser. The user must have a recent browser (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari). An up‑to‑date CPU and adequate RAM are also required (at least 16 GB). The web architecture ensures full usability for organizations operating across multiple locations — any authorized client can connect and interact with the system.

Authentication​

You must log in to use the application. The login form requires a username, a password and, optionally, a language selection (if the application has been configured to support multiple languages).

If the user is enabled to work with multiple roles (i.e. belongs to several user groups) and multi‑group mode is not enabled, a group selection is required during login. If the user is enabled to work with multiple tenants and multi‑tenant mode is not enabled, a tenant must be selected during login.

If users forget their password, they can access the following form by clicking the link “I forgot my password”.

The system verifies that the email address matches the one registered in the database and then sends an email containing a temporary code (token). By entering this code in the password field, the form for changing the password appears. After updating the password, the user can log in normally with the new credentials. Please note that the password must comply with the security policies defined in the system configuration.

CMDBuild is delivered with a preconfigured administrator account, with username “admin” and password “admin”, which can be used for the first access. It is mandatory to change this password immediately to prevent unauthorized access and ensure system security.
