PowerFinder
Type Distribution
The PowerFinder Plugin connects CMDBuild to PowerFinder, a RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) service. PowerFinder indexes CMDBuild cards and their attachments, then answers user questions with semantic search and generated answers. Each answer lists the cards, attachments and other resources it is based on.
With the plugin you can:
- Index the cards of selected classes and processes, choosing which attributes to send
- Index the attachments of those cards
- Keep the indexes up to date: card changes are sent to PowerFinder when they happen
- Use PowerFinder as the provider of the CMDBuild AI features: the global chatbot, the AI Assistant widget and the Homepage AI search
Key concepts
- Index: a set of data sent to PowerFinder. It is the cards of one class or process, limited to the attributes and the filter you choose.
- Context: a named set of indexes used for a specific kind of request. Each AI feature of CMDBuild queries one context.
- Permissions: for each index you choose who can query it: the users who can read the class or process, or a list of groups. A query uses only the indexes that are both in the context and allowed for the user.
How it works
Users never connect to PowerFinder directly. CMDBuild checks the user's permissions, picks the allowed indexes and calls PowerFinder with an application token stored on the server.
To install and configure the plugin, see the Usage Manual.
